The 2024 Winter Carnival Food Drive – Collect, Compete, Contribute!

As the winter chill sets in, the warmth of giving back to our community brings us together. This year’s Winter WHS Carnival Food Drive, hosted by the NHS, is not just a charity event – it’s a spirited competition that rallies our school for a noble cause. From January 29 to February 8, we have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of those who need it most.

The Drive: Collect, Compete, Contribute!

The rules are simple but meaningful:

  1. Collection Period: January 29 – February 8 (until 3:15 PM). All donations should be placed in the designated boxes in rooms 9, 11, 13, and 16.
  2. Donation Guidelines: We accept only the items listed below. Ensure that cans aren’t badly dented, packages aren’t torn, and goods aren’t out-of-date.
  3. Scoring System: Points will be assigned on February 10 by NHS judges. Food items are worth 1 point per $1 estimated value, and monetary donations count as 1 point per $1. Class totals will be adjusted for the number of students to determine the STUDENT POINT SCORE.
  4. Winning Rewards: The class with the highest STUDENT POINT SCORE will be crowned the 2024 CHAMPIONS, earning valuable Winter Carnival points!

Drop-off Locations for Each Class

  • Freshmen: Room 16 (Heath)
  • Sophomores: Room 11 (Cummings)
  • Juniors: Room 9 (Maccini)
  • Seniors: Room 13 (Mulliken)

The Approved Food List

Contribute items like cereal, tea, coffee, cocoa mix, baking mixes, peanut butter, canned goods, pasta, and more. Remember, no homemade or perishable items!

Don’t Forget Other Essentials!

We also collect non-food items such as shampoo, tissues, toothpaste, soap, and diapers.

Questions?

If you’re unsure about an item, Mrs. Mulliken is your go-to person!

The Annual Winter WHS Carnival Food Drive isn’t just about filling boxes; it’s about filling hearts with joy and hope. Every can, every box, every dollar brings us closer to helping those in need and building a stronger, more compassionate community. Let’s show what our school can do when we work together for a great cause!

Remember, the true spirit of the competition isn’t just about winning; it’s about making a difference. Let’s rally together, WHS, and make this food drive the most successful one yet!
