WHS Athletic Leadership Council

The Woodsville High School Athletic Leadership Council (ALC) is a student-led organization that promotes and supports the school’s athletic programs, fosters sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork among student-athletes, and encourages school spirit and pride. The council aims to create a positive and inclusive athletic culture while serving as a bridge between student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and the broader school community.

Key objectives of the Athletic Leadership Council include:

Student-athlete representation: The council serves as a voice for student-athletes, representing their interests, concerns, and ideas to coaches, administrators, and other stakeholders, ensuring their perspectives are heard and considered.

Leadership development: The council provides opportunities for student-athletes to develop and enhance their leadership skills through participation in various initiatives, such as organizing events, mentoring younger athletes, and serving as team captains or club officers.

Sportsmanship and character building: The council promotes the values of fair play, respect, integrity, and perseverance, fostering a culture of sportsmanship and robust character among student-athletes.

School spirit and pride: The council encourages school-wide support for athletic programs by organizing events, pep rallies, and spirit days. These boost school spirit and foster a sense of unity and pride among students, staff, and the community.

Community engagement and service: The council engages in community service projects and volunteer initiatives, demonstrating the positive impact of student-athletes beyond the field or court and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Athletic program support and enhancement: The council collaborates with coaches, administrators, and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement, develop strategies for enhancing athletic programs, and secure resources, such as fundraising and sponsorship.

Woodsville High School Athletic Leadership Council members participate in regular meetings, plan and execute events and initiatives, and serve as role models and leaders within the athletic community. Through involvement in the council, student-athletes develop valuable life skills, such as leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, while contributing to a positive and inclusive athletic culture that benefits the entire school community. The ALC plays a crucial role in promoting school spirit, fostering sportsmanship, and supporting the growth and success of student-athletes both on and off the field.
