11/25/24 – Mental Health Monday: Practicing Gratitude at Woodsville High School
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to focus on something that can positively impact your mental health: gratitude. At Woodsville High School, we know the importance of caring for our minds and hearts, especially during the holiday season.
Gratitude isn’t just about saying “thank you”—it’s about recognizing the good in our lives, even during challenging times. Studies show that practicing gratitude can boost your mood, reduce stress, and strengthen your relationships with others.
Simple Ways to Practice Gratitude This Week
- Write It Down: Each day, jot down three things you’re grateful for. It could be anything from a good grade on a test to a kind word from a friend.
- Express It: Let someone know why you appreciate them—a teacher, a classmate, or a family member. It’ll make their day and yours, too.
- Notice the Little Things: Gratitude doesn’t have to be about big moments. Take time to appreciate the crisp fall air, a laugh with friends, or even the smell of pumpkin pie.
Be Thankful for Yourself
Don’t forget: gratitude starts within. Take a moment to reflect on your own efforts, achievements, and progress. Celebrate the small wins—you deserve it!
As we approach Thanksgiving, let’s make gratitude a daily habit. Together, we can create a more supportive and uplifting community here at Woodsville High School. Remember, taking care of your mental health is one of the best gifts you can give yourself and those around you.
Happy Thanksgiving, Engineers! Let’s keep moving forward, one grateful step at a time. 🚂💙
